David Lloyd, former England coach and Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) captain, needed to have a good head for heights on his recent visit to the famous Old Trafford cricket ground. For not long after arriving at the ground, he was 30 metres in the air, standing in a cherry picker.

The team at The Point had invited David to hammer home (or was that a bat he was using??) the bolt, which was in LCCC red, into the last of the 26 tonne plate girders.

David Lloyd said:

“ I believe they needed a left-hander to hammer the final bolt in correctly, so I was only too happy to offer my services. They kept it quiet about going up in a cherry picker though, but compared to close in fielding, it was a breeze.”

After the required safety lesson, and donning hat, boots etc. he was lifted up to the underside of the new suite.

David added:

“I have seen the fly through DVD showing how this development will look when completed next year and it will be a very impressive addition to the ground. This is a famous sporting venue and improvements of this nature can only be good for the club and the local area.”
